Banquet Dinner at Beaumont House, Windsor

I attended a banquet dinner at Beaumont House, and was pleasantly surprised. Prior to coming here, I had read so many bad reviews about this place that I had strong reservations.

My experience, was in fact, the opposite. My room was lovely and modern, the staff was very polite, and the service was prompt.

I stayed here for 4 nights, and really enjoyed my stay. Besides the countless number of potato dishes served during breakfast and lunch, the food was good overall.

For the banquet dinner, our appetizer was the grilled halloumi cheese. It was served on roasted vegetables, accompanied by pimento and rocket oils. This was actually my first time ever having halloumi. The cheese was squeaking between my teeth when I was chewing on it...is that normal? It was a bit salty for my liking but it was good to try something new.

Our main was chicken filled with farce of crab meat in a light lobster butter & chervil cream sauce. This dish was pretty good even though I don't usually care for chicken dinners.

The veggie option was the wild mushroom & parmesan risotto served with grilled aubergine. I had taken a picture of this, but it got corrupted somehow. Fortunately, it didn't look very different from the chicken dish.

For dessert, we had the individual tiramisu topped with cappuccino cream and raspberries. This didn't taste very tiramisu-y, but it was still good.

I've been told that this hotel's main revenue stream is from large groups and conferences. Most of the bad reviews I read were from couples trying to have a romantic getaway here. For families and couples, I would recommend staying closer to town.
