My best friend, BB, recently got hitched in Costa Rica, and finally celebrated with all her friends and family at Lago Bar and Grill on Dow's Lake. I, sadly, was not able to make it to her wedding in Costa Rica, so I'm really glad that she decided to have a reception in Ottawa. It was a real disappointment that I didn't go to Costa Rica because I was one of her bridesmaids.
Prior to the party this weekend, all of the bridesmaids met up at Corner Bar and Grill for brunch to catch up before the big night.
Corner Bar and Grill is a nice casual place for food. It is in the heart of the Glebe area, and is set up like a sports bar. The interior looks more like a trendy little bistro, and there was a good mix of people (not just sports fans).
They had a large section dedicated to eggs benedict, so I ordered the Glebe Bennie without hollandaise sauce (unfortunately, not a fan of hollandaise). The Glebe bennie was roasted sweet peppers and zucchini on top of an English muffin, and topped with two poached eggs. I asked for my eggs soft, but they came out a little too well done for me. Home fries were served on the side.

BB had the Santa Fe Bennie. This was roasted sweet peppers, Southwestern black bean mole, and hollandaise served with home fries.

Am had the Bistro Bennie: brie cheese, fresh baby spinach, and hollandaise.

Two of the girls felt like turkey sandwiches, so one had the Uptown turkey sandwich, and the other had the Downtown turkey sandwich.
The Uptown turkey sandwich was smoked turkey with brie cheese, grilled pear, leaf lettuce and rosemary config on toasted ciabatta.

The Downtown turkey sandwich was smoked turkey with grilled zucchini, leaf lettuce, Jack cheese, and roasted red pepper mayo on toasted ciabatta.

Overall, I was pretty neutral about the food. Nothing bad, but nothing amazing. After our meal, we spent the afternoon partying before the party!
