I have finally gained my energy back, and am enjoying solid foods again..yay! I tell ya, it's been tough being sick, especially when the temperature outside has been averaging in the 20's (centigrade).
CK and I finally moved out of the hotel, and into our small, little place in Mission Beach. I am looking forward to morning runs on the beach!
My first meal out in San Diego was at Richard Walker's Pancake House. This is a place that specializes in pancakes...duh! They have over 30 different kinds of pancakes, waffles, crepes, and flapjacks combined, and offer choices such as Swedish cakes with Lingonberries, raisin nut flap jacks, and bacon waffles.
Here is a little fact about me. I don't care for pancakes. Actually, I take that back. I don't like restaurant pancakes. I'm not a fan of sweet breakfasts, and that is usually what pancakes are, sweet. I'm definitely the sausage and egg type. However, when pancakes are home made, I can control what goes into the batter, and make them to my taste.
I decided that it would be a waste to not order pancakes at a specialty pancake house, so I took my time, and finally picked out a pancake. However, as soon as the time came to order, the words "Sante Fe Omelette" came out of my mouth. Hey, at least I tried.
The Santa Fe Omelette is a zesty Southwestern omelette made with fresh onions, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapeños, with gooey jalapeño cheese in the middle. This was served with a fresh, spicy salsa on the side.
The omelette came with a side of 3 pancakes, but I asked for hash browns instead.
CK ordered the popular Walker's apple pancake. I had a bite, and although it was good, I wouldn't have been able to eat much more of it. It was like eating a cinnamon apple pie for breakfast. It was a huge portion but he managed to finish it.
